Abstract
501,118. Dynamo - electric machines. SCHORCH-WERKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 19, 1938, Nos. 24449 and 24460. Convention dates, Nov. 29, 1937 and Jan. 28, 1938. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXIV] The rotor 4 of an electric motor driving a member 1 of a variable-ratio friction gear 1, 2 is adapted to be displaced axially to vary the ratio of the gear, the driven member 2 being adapted to adjust itself laterally. This axial movement is effected through a screw device 29 bearing on the end of the rotor shaft 3 through a thrust bearing 28. The length of the rotor is made sufficient to allow for this displacement. The motor together with the friction gear is cooled by means of fan vanes 24 secured to the member 1 of the gear, which vanes are arranged in a cylindrical extension 27 of the motor casing so that the axial movement of the rotor does not materially effect the cooling.
