Abstract
280,889. Lysholm, A. J. R. Nov. 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Speed-varying mechanism.-In hydraulic power transmission apparatus comprising a pump and turbine, the latter has three or more blade rims 4 - - 7, and guide blades 8, 9. The inlet edges of the turbine blades are rounded and displaced relatively to the exhaust edges in the direction of rotation, and the blade angles of one or more rims are equal to or greater than 20‹. The pump rims 2, 3 consist of long blades with intervening short blades. Leakage from the gear passes past the pump balancing piston 18, through a groove, chamber 13, and throttled pipe 16 to a cooling system, from which it returns to a chamber 12 and through holes 17 to the pump. In order to facilitate manipulation of a reversing gear 23, a brake disc 25 is provided on the turbine shaft.
