[Class 69 (ii).] A hydraulic variable-speed gear comprises a rotary drum c on the driving shaft a, and a plurality of toothed wheel pumps, the pinions e of all pumps meshing with a common pinion m on the driven shaft. The pump inlet ports g<1> are always open, the outlet ports h<1> being controlled by an axially-slidable sleeve i. Specifications 2842/09, 143,422, 217,852, 256,135, and 305,000, [all in Class 69 (ii), Hydraulic presses &c.], are referred to.
