Abstract
331,180. MacDonald, A. E., and Blunt & McCormack, Ltd. April 11, 1929. Divided on 331,012. Kinematograph apparatus.-In projectors for endless films, the coil of film is supported on edge on an annular table 4 rotated on the base 1 by means of a grooved pulley 50 engaging its edge and driven from the feed sprockets 11, 12, and the perforations of the film at the outer, and if desired also at the, inner periphery of the coil are engaged by sprockets driven at the same speed as the sprockets in the projector. The invention is described as embodied in a projector having the feed mechanism, gate and other parts described in Specification 331,012. The table. which may be flat or conical in shape, is supported by a fixed and a spring-controlled guide pulley 51, 53, and by the pulley 50 mounted on a vertical shaft 57 driven by a flexible shaft 58 and worm or skew-gearing from the feed mechanisms of the projector. Guard rails 68, 70 have openings by which the film is passed to and from the coil. The film, after passing through the projector, is guided by rollers 60, 61 to the sprocket 59, which returns it to the outer periphery of the coil. The roller 61 is mounted on a spring- controlled arm and may be designed as part of an electrical cut-off which comes into operation when the film breaks. The film is held in engagement with the sprocket 59 by a shoe 65<1> carried by a spring-controlled arm 65 which has a projection 66 for separating the rollers to allow threading of the film. Specification 250,183 also is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification. the supporting and driving pulleys are arranged to engage a depending annular flange on the table.
