Abstract

242,347. Readeker, W. C., and Claremont Laboratories, Inc. Aug. 6, 1924. Kinematograph apparatus.-In an intermittent feed mechanism comprising claws carried by a vibratory frame on a frame which is reciprocated vertically by a cam, the movement of the vibratory frame causing the claws to engage the film is produced by a cam, and the disengaging movement is produced by a spring without any control by the cam. As shown in Fig. 3, the reciprocating frama 19 is moved by a cam 17 engaging transverse bars 18<1>, and the vibratory frame 21 carries feed claws 22 and is pivoted at its lower edge to the frame 19. The cam 17 is provided with a stud 24 which moves along a cam 25 on the frame 21 to cause the claws to enter the film, and a spring 23 withdraws the claws therefrom when the stud 24 moves out of engagement with the cam 25. The shaft 14 carrying the cam 17 is mounted in a bearing 13, Fig. 2, in a bridge member 12 secured to a carriage 7 which is vertically adjustable on a fixed frame 4 by means of a rack 9, pinion 10, and hand wheel 11 and the aperture plate 5 is fixed to the frame 4 and is provided with vertical slots 5' to receive the claws 22. The shaft 14 also carries a shutter 16 having enlarged rims 16<1> on its blades, and a gear wheel 26<1> engaging a gear wheel on a parallel shaft 26 which is mounted in the carriage 7 and drives the film-winding means. The shaft 14 is driven by a belt 37 and pulleys 15 from a pulley 35 mounted on a. link 32 which is pivoted at its upper end and is pulled by a spring 34. The pulley 35 is secured to the same shaft as a pulley 36 which is driven by a belt 38 from a motor 22, the motor being mounted on a pivot 29 and being only partly supported bv a spring 31 so as to maintain tension in the belt 38.
