Abstract

328,869. Spanner, E. F. July 19, 1929. Mountings for rocket apparatus.-A rocket trough or tube is pivotally connected, permanently or detachably, to a stem which is adapted to pass through a prepared hole in some rigid structure and to be rotatably secured therein. A rocket discharge tube 1, Fig. 3, is trunnioned or otherwise pivoted in the yoke of a stem 2. The stem is adapted to pass through a prepared hole in a rail 3, such as a ship's bulwark, stanchion, or the like, and has its lower end screw threaded to receive a butterfly nut 8. The stem is formed with a shoulder 9 which projects below the lower edge of the rail and prevents the nut 8 from clamping the stem 2, in a rigid manner, to the said rail. A resilient washer 4 assists in absorbing the shock of discharge when a rocket is fired. The elevating and training device is a long handle 6, Fig 6, secured to the tube 1.
