Abstract
323,571. Wrightson, S. S., and Matthews, C. R. Oct. 12, 1928. Sleepers, integral with chairs; chair plates; chairs with fixed jaws; sleepers, metal, and securing rails thereto.-Rail and key lugs or jaws are formed from rolled or similar sections, other than channel, with a cut face in contact with and edge-welded to a base-plate, chair plate or sleeper, for use with either flange or bull-head rails. Fig. 2 shows an angle jaw J edge-welded at E to a base S and provided with a bolt-hole for securing the rail. An H or Z iron may be similarly used. A bar L is edge-welded below a sleeper to enter the ballast. A similar bar mav be welded above a sleeper, &c., to prevent spreading of the gauge. In Fig. 8, the jaws are H-section, the jaw JH engaging the rail R and the jaw J engaging the key K. A T or trough bar may also be used. Specification 304,496 is referred to.
