Abstract
313,765. Turvey, L. A. June 2S, 1928. Chairs, securing to sleepers; chairs with fixed jaws.-Bull-head or double-head rails 6 are secured by keys in rolled chairs welded to metal sleepers 1. Each chair has rail and key jaws 2, formed to shape after rolling, and base portions 3 extending beyond the jaws. The chairs are secured by seam or spot welding, or both, and the sleepers have no slots or holes, the chair base being flat and resting on the sleeper. The chair may be made in one piece, Fig. 3, or in two pieces, the dividing line occurring at the rail seating 4 either near one jaw or centrally of the rail, the two parts being butt-welded, if desired, before or after placing on the sleeper. The chair may be in three parts, Fig. 5, with a separate rail seating 8 having recessed edges to embrace the outer parts.
