Abstract
252,800. Fearn, W. H. March 6, 1925. Portable railways ; rail joints; rail joints with internal fish-plates; tie-bars. - In rail joints wherein a tie-bar b passes between the rail ends to secure the fish-plates f, the fish-plates engage holes, Fig. 3, or slots, Fig. 7, in the tie-bar. A tie-plate, Fig 8, may also be used. With bridge rails, a plate g, Fig. 3, may be placed within the rail, and the fish-plates may be circular, Fig. 5, and to prevent the tie-bars lifting, the outer fish-plates may rest on the rail flanges and the inner plate engage the crown of the hollow of the rail. In an alternative form for bridge rails, Fig. 1, the tie-bar b has a shouldered part c passing through the plates f, g, the plate g extending down to the rail base while the plates f rest on the rail flanges h.
