Abstract

309,695. Campbell, C. W., and Cockroft, F. March 7, 1928. Pie moulding and lidding machines. - The plunger and male die for moulding and lidding pies is provided with a spring - controlled collar 20 having projections 25 which seat upon the rim of the tin 3 prior to the completion of the downward movement of the plunger and remain in contact therewith during the initial retracting movement of the die. The spring 26 retains the pressure on the collar during the relative movement of the collar and plunger. The piston 17 expels air through the valve 11 to retain the moulded paste in the tin during the retracting movement of the die in known manner. The collar also is shown applied to a lidding die mounted on a solid plunger. Specifications 214,354. 222,165 and 222,424 are referred to.
