Abstract
291,278. Fisher, A. D. Oct. 24, 1927. Moulding confectionery; moulds; pressing plungers.-Chocolate cups or shells intended to be filled and sealed are produced by subjecting non- plastic bulk chocolate to high pressure within a mould. Excess material may be inserted into the mould, the surplus being permitted to escape against resistance. Fig. 3 shows apparatus comprising a mould 3 furnished with a stripper 4 and provided with a cover 6 through which works a plunger 7. The cover may be pressed against the mould by a spring 8 or secured by clamps 9. A restricted passage 10 in the plunger permits the escape of excess material. To prevent fracture of the base of the cup during withdrawal of the plunger, the latter is furnished with an air admission valve 11 carried by a loosely-fitting spindle 12 forced upwardly by a spring 14.
