Abstract

Locking nuts. -A spring washer consists of at least two helical convolutions with relatively inclined surfaces and includes a convolution in which the surfaces of the washer are inclined to a plane normal to the axis of the washer. Fig. 1 shows a washer consisting of a pair of convolutions a, b the surfaces of which are oppositely inclined to the plane normal to the axis; the portion h of the washer connecting the convolutions has its surfaces lying in planes normal to the axis. In Fig. 9 the convolution b is shown with a bend i therein and with its surfaces in the plane normal to the axis. The free ends of the washer have their surfaces lying in the plane normal to the axis. The edges d, e which contact with the nut are rounded off.
