Abstract
305,153. Grange, W. H. Nov. 1, 1927. Carding-engines. - An arrangement of stopping and starting gear for a. series of carding - machines comprises the starting handles H of the machines, which are connected by the usual links L, L<1>, L<2> to the sliding belt fork B mounted on a rod B<1> controlled by a spring S. Each starting handle is locked by a weighted pivoted trigger D connected by a chain D<2> to a slidable rod R provided with a series of pull chains C in suitable accessible positions. The rod R after operation is returned to its normal position by a spring R'. Operation of the rod. R releases all the triggers D and allows the spring S to move the belt fork. Any machine can then be restarted as desired. The rod R can be extended by rods R<x> at an angle if desired. A brake carried by the sliding rod B' can be applied to the fast pulley when the belt is moved on to the loose pulley. The brake is carried by a weighted spring arm and is lifted by a fixed incline on the return movement of the belt.
