Abstract
342,679. Converting rotary into reciprocating motion. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, WELCH, S. A., GUYLER, A. F., ASHBY, J. T., and BOALER, W. H., of British Celanese, Spondon, near Derby. July 31, 1929, No. 23539. [Class 80 (i).] Relates to mechanism for actuating the yarn guides and knitting cams of a knitting-machine, wherein the length of the traverse of the yarn guides and cams can be automatically adjusted. In one form the yarn guides and cams are actuated by a frame 11 sliding upon a bar 12; mounted upon the frame are a mutilated disc 14 and rollers 19 .. 22 between which an endless belt 23 is driven. A crank member 24 engaging an adjustable member 26 is mounted upon the disc 14 so that when the crank pin 25 moves along the upper surface of the guide member 26, the mutilated disc is held as shown to grip the upper portion of the endless belt 23. The end of the stroke of the carriage is determined by the crank pin 25 reaching the end of the member 26, at which point the crank and disc rotate until the crank pin engages the under face of the member 26, and the disc grips the lower portion of the belt 23. The guide member 26 comprises a pair of telescopically mounted members carried by rods 28, 29, the positions of which are determined by levers 32, 312 controlled by pattern mechanism.
