Abstract

688,446. Building cops. AKT.-GES. J. J. RIETER & CIE. June 27, 1951 [June 29, 1950], No. 15294/51. Class 120(ii) In a method of winding cops on a ring frame having a lowering spindle rail, the thread guides, on winding the cop bottom, are lowered parallel to the spindle rail and the ring rail, in the course of building the cop, is moved in a direction opposite to the movement of the spindle rail and at a reduced rate with respect thereto, such movement of the ring rail being controlled from the spindle rail. A heart cam 8 rocks a lever 10 to oscillate a compound pulley 14, 15, the portion 14 of which includes a movable cam 17, over which the chain 13 extends, and the portion 15 of which includes a cam 33 over which extends the chain 24 which oscillates the compound roller 25, 26 which, through a chain 27, vertically reciprocates the ring rail 4. The axle pin 16 of the pulley 14, 15 is flattened along its periphery and is carried by one arm 18 of a bell crank lever, pvioted at 19 to the frame, the other arm of the lever having a sliding slotted connection, at 20, to a plate 23 on the spindle rail 3. As the rail 3 descends, the pin 16 is rotated to bring the flat thereon beneath the cam 17, which forms the bottom of the cop, to allow the same to be depressed below the surface of the pulley 14 so that normal traverse may be effected. A skew portion on the peripherally-adjustable cam 33 serves for varying the traverse. The guide rail 40 is supported by rods 35 (not shown) which slide in holes in the spindle rail 3 and in cross-bars 36 (not shown). At the beginning of the wind each rod 35 is supported by a collar 39 (not shown) thereon bearing on the rail 3, but after the bottom of the cop has been formed, another collar on the rod contacts a cross-bar 36 and thereafter until the end of the wind the guide rail is maintained in that position.
