Insoles and socks.-An insole or sock designed to protect the foot from damp penetrating between the sole and upper of a shoe comprises a layer 12 of soft fabric, a layer 11 of oiled silk, a thin sole 10 of cardboard, a layer 13 of rubber, and a layer 14 of oiled silk. The layers increase progressively in dimensions from top to bottom of the composite insole, so that the margin 14a of the waterproof layer 14 extends upwards against the upper 15 and is held out against the upper by the rubber margin 13a. The layers are united by cement or stitches. A top layer of spongemay be added.
