Abstract

250,252. Solomonoff, J. L. March 31, 1925, [Convention date]. Soles; heels.-The sole of a toe dancer's shoe is formed arcuately or so that any bending tendency is towards the sole of the foot and not away from it. The shoe has an inner sole 21 of stiffened leather arcuately made so as to assume an extremely arched formation similar to a highly-arched foot. An additional stiffening sole 22, also arcuately formed, is attached to the first bv adhesive and staples or nails 24. This sole holds the box toe layers at 25. The stiffening sole 22 is preferably split at 27 to form upper and lower layers 28, 29 between which is inserted a member 30 shaped on its upper surface 31 like the arch of a shoe and preferably forming the heel. The split member 29 is attached to the heel and turned over the bottom face which is covered by a wearing layer 34. The outer portion of the shoe is preferably of fabric material, satin, silk, or may be leather. The lining 13 is finished off by tape 14 which may have a drawstring. At the toe layers of padding material 17 are inserted between the leather layers.
