Abstract

575,699. Boots and shoes. LEICESTER COOPERATIVE BOOT & SHOE MANUFACTURING SOCIETY, Ltd., and SHERRIFF, C. T. Jan. 14, 1944, No. 713. [Class 17 (ii)] A marginal strip or flap 1 is secured between the upper 3 and the welt of a welted shoe of the kind wherein the upper, welt and insole 4 are united by a horizontal chain stitch seam 5 and is turned over the edge of a through or platform sole 8 and secured below it, e.g., by adhesive. The flap 1 may be in one or more parts and where, as preferably is the case, the shoe is provided with a wedge heel, it may have a wider rear portion at waist and heel so as to extend around the sides to the underside of such heel. The shoe may have a filling 7 of felt or the like and an initial layer of 'conventional bottom filling material. If desired, the centre of the forepart of the sole 8 may be removed, or raised, and replaced after the strip 1 has been stuck to the filler. An additional through sole may be secured to the platform sole before the outer sole is attached.
