Insoles and socks; connecting uppers to insoles.-An insole for boots and shoes consists of three superposed layers, an under layer of leather, an intermediate layer 2 of sheet asbestos, which may be lapped over the lower layer, as shown, and an upper layer 3 of woven asbestos, the edges of which are lapped over the other two layers. The whole of the parts are sewn to a welt 4 or to the sole when a welt is not used.
