Connecting uppers to soles; lasting, methods of; repairing. - A repairable boot or shoe of the veldtschoen type, Fig. 3, having a single sole 10 has the upper 4 provided with inwardly and outwardly turned edges, the outer 2 being secured to the sole and the inner 14 being free of it. The edges 14 may be connected by horizontal cross stitches. When a new sole is required the outer portion 2 may be cut away and the shoe relasted by the ample margin 14 which may then be turned outwards and secured beneath a rand 8, Fig. 4. In one modification, this part 14 is trimmed and secured to the sole by stitching but not turned outwards. In another modification, the part 2 is not cut away but a new sole is secured by stitching through both parts 2 and 14. The part 2 is secured by stitches in the line of the welt crease but a similar result may be obtained by splitting the upper into inner double edges.
