Abstract

Doffing arrangements; lifting rails. - In spinning, doubling, and similar machines in which the bobbin or lifting rails are carried upon a rotatable device for the purpose of doffing, the bobbin rails c, mounted on opposite sides of the rotatable member or capstan m, are hinged at d, so that, upon rotation of the capstan to bring a fresh set of empty bobbins a into spinning position, the rail carrying the full bobbins is engaged by a bracket e and maintained in the position shown in Fig. 3 until the required quantity of yarn is wound on to commence the fresh set, the yarn is severed and' the full bobbins are replaced by empty bobbins, whereupon the bracket e is lowered to allow the rail to fall and to be engaged by arms k which are operated to seat it again on the capstan, as shown in Fig. 5, in which position it is locked by sliding devices arranged inside the capstan, the empty bobbins being maintained in position during the movements by a rod g carried by arms f.
