Abstract
152,893. Graf, F. Dec. 15, 1919. Doffing - arrangements for spinning and twisting machines, of the type comprising a rod which carries the holders for the full and empty bobbins and is rotatable in blocks sliding on arms pivoted about a horizontal axis, are provided with means for engaging the rod in the required positions for removing and replacing the bobbins, and the blocks are moved longitudinally of the arms by means of screwed sleeves. A rod 18, Fig. 1, which carries bobbin holders 19, extends longitudinally of the machine and is rotatably mounted in blocks engaging screwed sleeves 4 on arms 3 hinged to the spindle rail. Guide rods 36 hinged to the spindle rail engage diametral holes in the rod 18 and in a sleeve 40, Fig. 7, freely mounted thereon to ensure the correct position of the rod to bring the empty bobbins above the spindles. When the rod 18 is at the outer end of the arms, the guide rods are free from the holes therein and are housed in extensions 41 of the sleeves, thereby allowing the rods to be turned. The sleeves 4 are rotated by bevel gearing and a hand-wheel 9 to raise and lower the rod 18 to remove full bobbins from, and to place empty bobbins upon, the spindles. When the full bobbins are removed, a hand-wheel 12 is operated to pay out a wire rope 14 connected to the arms 3, whereupon the arms, moved initially by a spring 16, turn outwardly into the position shown on the right-hand side of Fig. 1. In this position the rod 18 is turned through 180 degrees ; the arms are then drawn back to the vertical position and the hand-wheel 9 operated to lower the empty bobbins on to the spindles. The bobbin-holders consist of grooved plates secured on the rod 18 between distancepieces. During spinning the arms 3 are turned so as to house the parts carried thereon below the spindle rail.
