Doffing-arrangements.- In doffing-mechanism for spinning, twisting, and like machines of the kind in which bobbins are supported on spindles projecting upwardly from a pair of interchangeable bobbin rails, the bobbins are moved between the doffing position, the position below the flyers, and a rearward position by means of a rocking frame which supports the rails and is adapted to swing about the axes of shafts actuated by suitable mechanism. The frame comprises bars 5 pivoted to arms 6, on shafts 8, 9 either or both of which are rotated, for example by a worm 20 and handle 19. On the completion of the set the parts occupy the position shown in Fig. 2; the building-motion is operated to lower the rail 1 on to the bars 5, the pivoted catch-lever 22 being engaged by the rail 1 and removed from engagement with the rail 2 carrying empty bobbins 4, whereupon the frame is rocked into the position shown in Fig. 4 so that the rail 2 may be lifted into the spinning position, a stop 25 on the lever 7 determining the position of the frame and a stop 2 on the lever 6 tilting the rail 1 to facilitate the removal of the full bobbins. When the full bobbins on the rail 1 are replaced by empty bobbins the frame is retracted, the rail 1 riding over the catch-lever 22 so that it is held thereby when the frame is again advanced to the position shown in Fig. 2 for the next doff. The arms 6, 7 may be pivoted above the frame, or either may be pivoted above and the other below.
