Doffing-arrangements. -Relates to doffing- apparatus for flyer spinning, doubling, twisting, and like machines of the kind wherein the spindles and flyers are supported at their upper ends in bearings carried by a longitudinal rail mounted so that it may be oscillated to tilt the the spindle for the purposes of doffing. During the movement of the spindles, after the lifter and step rails have been lowered, the full bobbins are supported thereon by a bar 6 carried by levers 7, which are moved in unison with the spindles by hinged levers 8 carried by the quadrants 15 that operate the spindles until arrested by the engagement of adjustable screws a on the levers 8 with the step rail 9, whereupon the bobbins slide on to the pegs. 17. The spindles are further advanced and the levers 7 are turned over the full bobbins to cause the yarns to be engaged by the bar 6. The empty bobbins are lifted by a rack 22 from pegs 16 on to the spindles when they are moved to be in alignment therewith, the racks being pivoted so that the supporting rail 23 follows the spindles as they are moved to the operative vertical position and is moved to release the bobbins by a projection 25 on the step rails 9 when it is returned to its normal position. The levers 7 are raised by arms 26 to provide the necessary slack yarn to recommence spinning. A severing device for the yarns is carried by the rail 23.
