Abstract
276,878. Milne, S. Jan. 22, 1927. Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-In a joint for revolving steam or other cylinders of the type in which a spherically-faced washer c is interposed between the revolving part b and the stationary part a, the steam is admitted from an inlet in the part a through ports h<1>, h<2>, h<3> in the stationary and revolving parts and in the washer c. The parts h<3> are in the form of elongated apertures concentric with the axis of the cylinder, and the parts are held together by a saddle d acted on by springs g confined beneath the heads of bolts d<1>. A drain pipe i is secured either to the stationary or to the revolving part.
