Abstract
274,451. Buess, W. July 16, 1926, [Convention date]. Rotary furnaces.-In a rotary furnace for melting or renning metals in which the axis of the body portion of the furnace is inclined to the axis of rotation, the construction is such that, even when the furnace is turned through a complete revolution, the charge will contact only with the heat-resisting lining. As shown, the, charging aperture d is formed in the body as close to the axis of rotation as possible and is surrounded by an elevated portion of the lining to prevent flow of molten metal into it when on its lowest position. The furnace may be used as a fore-hearth for a blast or cupola furnace, in which case charging is effected through one of the trunnions.
