552,637. Melting metals. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd., RENSHAW, E. S., and HARTNETT, J. V. March 23, 1942, No. 3843. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] For controlling the sulphur content of metal melted in a cupola furnace while in intimate contact with solid fuel, melting is carried out in a furnace lined with basic material and limestone is added to the charge to take any desired proportion of the sulphur into the slag as calcium sulphide.
