Abstract
266,934. Whitehead (Laisterdyke), Ltd., W. &. J Smith, C., and Yorke, F. April 22, 1926. Doubles, preventing, in worsted and like spinning frames. Plates G, G<1>, G<2> are hinged to a pin P, which is slidable in a slot B<2> in a bracket B mounted on the top board T so that, when it is drawn to the top of the slot, the plates, by reason of the shaping of their rear ends, fall in the form of a fan as shown, and so that, for the purpose of piecing, the plates may be raised and the pin pushed to the bottom of the slot, the plates being then housed in a channel in the bracket. A plate spring S carried by the plate G engages the bracket and prevents movement of the plates due to vibration. At the parts where the carriage plate heads pass behind the top board, the plates are carried on a bar A, Fig. 8, and the plate G is provided with a rolled edge so that the guard may be moved around the bar to admit passage of the hand and the raising of the eye board for piecing.
