596,948. Burr-crushing apparatus. AIREDALE COMBING CO., Ltd., and QUINN, E. Aug. 7, 1945, No. 20195. [Class 120 (i)] A cleaning device for a Harmel burr-crushing aparatus used in a worsted carding-engine comprises a fluted cleaning roller 8 resting freely between and on the two fluted crushing rollers 2 between end retaining members 4 of a carriage 1 reciprocated along the crushing rollers 2 in relation to which the cleaning roller 8 is free to float and align itself. As shown, retaining members 4 are slidable in vertical guides 5 at each end of the carriage and can be raised from the operative position by means of a knob 9 so as to release roller 8,' whilst the apparatus is running, if desired.' The retaining members may alternatively be hinged and spring controlled or otherwise displaceable. Carriage 1 runs on supporting guides 3, carries a brush 10 on each side to clean rollers 2, and may be driven in known manner by a endless driving belt engaging a trip lever on alternate sides of the carriage.
