Abstract
254,173. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Prosperity Co., Inc.). Nov. 21, 1925. Gearing for starting machinery requiring both hands of opera.tor to be occupied.-In a garment or like press in which the, head 2 is manally lowered before the application of a final heavy pressure by power, both hands of the operator must be occupied during the application of the heavy pressure, one hand holding a handle 9a to hold down the head against spring 13 and counterweight 12 and the other hand operating a lever 63 controlling a clutch to transmit power from a continuously running motor 43 to a cam-shaft 36. Initial closing of the presss results in the partial making of a toggle 14, 15, whilst the final pressure is applied by a cam 35 rocking a lever 63 before the initial closing of the press has been completed results merely in an idle movement of the lever 18 and a second idle movement must be made before, the power can be applied.
