Rotating-tool machines. - In a machine operating on and applying liquid to hides a work-supporting member 3 is movable in reverse directions so that two coats of liquid are applied in one cycle of the machine. higs. 3 and 4 show the machine as viewed from opposite directions. The hide is hung on the edge 3<b> of the drum 3, which is rotated to force the hide against a bar 4, so that the hide is clamped by the tension of springs 7. The hide is carried into contact with a setting-roller 10, which is moved downwards by a pedal 15, and with a rotating brush 44, which applies oil to the hide. The rotation of the drum is reversed by the engagement of a controlling drum 39 with an arm 37 which operates a clutch 34, the pedal being released at the same time so that the setting-roller is lifted from the hide by springs 19. The clutch may be operated at any time by a hand lever 40.
