Abstract
234,124. Fortuna-Werke Spezialmaschinenfabrik Ges. May 15, 1924, [Convention date]. Hydraulic transmission of power; liquid-pressure engines. - In hydraulic mechanism for reciprocating the tables of grinding and other machines, the piston valve 8, Fig. 3, of the hydraulic cylinder is operated by an arm 18 on a hollow shaft 19, the valve being caused to move slowly for the end part of its travel by liquid trapped in one end of its valve cylinder and escaping to the other end through a duct 16 and throttling member 17. The shaft 19 is normally locked by a pawl 22 or 23, Fig. 2, and an operating lever 26, Fig. 4, is also locked by the engagement of a double pawl 38 with a fixed member 40. The machine table has stops 34, 35 which act to move the pawl 38 out of engagement and then to move the lever 26 and spindle 25. A spring 30 or 31 is thereby put under tension, the pawl 22 or 23 is moved out of engagement and the spring then moves the shaft 19 to operate the valve 8. When hand control is desired, the pawl 38 is moved out of engagement by a handle 41, or the pawls 22, 23, 38 are moved out of engagement by hand-operated cam discs, the throttling member 17 being simultaneously fully opened.
