Abstract
243,056. Seymour, C., Shearing, G., and Hughes, H. G. Aug. 19, 1924. Vacuum tubes.-A silica or other thermionic valve B is provided with a metal jacket A through which a stream of cooling water is circulated, the. jackets being in the form of a double cylinder open at one or both ends, or a tubular spiral, and arranged so that water is not allowed to come into contact with the valve envelope. The seals E of the valve may extend through one or both ends of the jacket for cooling by an air blast. The jacket may have a blackened surface. A guard ring F and a support G are fitted at the lower end of the valve, or a flanged gripping device may be arranged at the upper end. A closely-wound copper tube may he used as a jacket.
