Abstract
A wire to be welded to the wire which passes through the glass seal of a thermionic valve, incandescent lamp, &c., consists of manganese-deoxidized copper containing from 0.001 per cent to 0.2 per cent of manganese. The wire is made by melting copper and deoxidizing it with manganese in sufficient quantity to leave the required amount of manganese in the copper after the pouring and casting operations.
