Abstract

241,263. Essenhigh, L. J. July 12, 1924. Belts.-A V-section driving belt comprises one or more continuous strips of leather, canvas or spring steel on both sides of which are secured pads A of leather, rubber, &c. The sides of the strip and pads are not bevelled but the width of the upper pads is greater than that of the lower pads and less than the width of the strip B, so that only the edges of the parts are in contact with the sides of the pulley groove. The pads are formed with three holes in line to receive split or other rivets C or screw fastenings D, the middle holes being for shortening purposes. The rivets or pegs C may be secured by wire cotters or split-rings. The pads may alternatively be secured by sowing or lacing. The ends of the continuous strip B are fastened together with a lap joint. Specifications 20500/91, 3164/08, and 460/11 are referred to.
