Belts modified for troughing; flat endless-belt conveyers.-An endless-conveyer belt comprises leather strips 1 arranged side by side and connected by cross pins to which are attached metal or other plates constituting flanges and forming one or more longitudinal channels for the reception of goods while allowing the belt to bend when passing over guiding drums or pulleys. The belt may comprise several sets of leather strips 1 as shown or the strips may be continuous across the belt, and is provided with a continuous canvas, &c. web 6, Fig. 3. The plates 3 are slotted at their ends for the reception of the cross pins 2 and may be arranged at the sides only, or in three or more rows to form a plurality of channels. Driving or guiding pulleys may engage the top of the belt between two rows of plates, or the plates may be arranged to leave borders on the sides of the belt for engagement with the pulleys. Upright carrier-plates may be attached to the belt or to the side plates.
