[Also in Groups XXII and XXX] In traction apparatus (see Group XXX) for elongated articles consisting of a pair of endless belts 4, 41 between opposed reaches of which the articles are gripped, and in which the belts are backed by driving chains 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, each chain is composed of solid links 51, 52 interconnected by pins 53 to which the links 51 are secured by rivets 57. The inner face of each link has a rib 61 to engage grooved guide rollers (not shown), while the outer opposed faces of the links have ribs 55, 56 between which endless belts 4, 4<SP>1</SP> rest so as to be driven by frictional contact. Specification 731,991, [Group XXII], is referred to.
