Abstract

742,276. Endless conveyers. BAKER CASTOR OIL CO. Aug. 10, 1953 [Aug. 15, 1952], No. 22049/53. Class 78 (1). A conveying belt comprises an endless flexible trough member supported at its sides by endless members such as chains, and transverse dividing walls for said trough member movable synchronously with said trough member and shaped to conform with the contour of the trough member. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 5, the trough member 31 of canvas, wire mesh, rubber and the like is supported between endless chains 15, 16 passing round sprockets 24, 25 and guided on tracks 13, 14, 17, 18. The trough member is divided into compartments by walls 41 each of which is provided with a rigid strip 43 secured at its ends to lugs 34 on the chains. Guide rails 47 for the chains are provided on the tracks 13, 14. Alternatively, wheels 48, 49, Fig. 3, may be provided. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) the members 43 are dispensed with and the walls are connected to the base of the trough member by sewing. In another modification the walls are supported by one or more separate endless chains moving synchronously with the trough member.
