Abstract
712,901. Belt fastenings. ROST, H. F., and WAERN, O: H. March 12, 1951. No. 5939/51. Class 80 (1) [Also in Groups XXIII and XXX] In a belt conveyer (see Group XXX) the ends of a length of conveyer belting or of adjacent sections of conveyer belting all or a. part of which are resilient are joined by spring clamps engaging over enlarged heads formed on the adjacent ends of the belting. As shown, a resilient section 90, Fig. 12, is held between two clamps at the ends of a belt 89 or adjacent belt sections, or one end of the .resilient section 159, Fig. 15, is formed with an enlargement 160 which is held in a clamp 157 at one end of the belt. or a belt section 151 while the other end is fixed by strips vulcanized to the resilient section and to the belt or a belt section (not shown). The belt 151 is secured in clamp 157 by having its free end 151<SP>1</SP> passed around a rod 152 located within the clamp and folded back over the belt. to which it is glued and further secured by rivets 156 which also secure wearing strips 155 to the longitudinal edges of the belt. The clamps 157 have turned-in edges 154 so that shaped pliers (see Group XXIII) can be inserted for opening them to remove or replace them. Each clamp may be split up into a number of clamps spaced across the belt to allow lateral flexing.
