Abstract

219,054. Redrup, C. B. March 17, 1923. Piston packing.-In packing of the type comprising an inner and an outer split ring, the ends of the inner ring being pressed apart by a spring or springs, the latter are arranged to conform to the curvature of the packing rings. The outer ring a is formed opposite the split with an internal projection c, which serves as an abutment for the ends of the inner ring d. The springs e are secured to the ends of the ring d, or the ends themselves are formed corrugated. In a modification a separate spring, housed in a channel in the ring a, is inserted between the ends of the ring d.
