Abstract
201,432. Campbell, P., and Banks, W. J. Aug. 30, 1922. Piston packing. - An undivided expansionlimiting ring B, Fig. 2, fitted in a recess G in a split packing-ring A is formed with internal projections, the wear of which permits gradual expansion of the packing-ring. The projections may engage the bottom of the recess G. or each projection J, Fig. 3, may engage the bottom of a recess K in the recess G, or the edges of the recesses, K, Fig. 4. Fig. 2 shows the rings B applied to packing of the type described in Specifications 3946/13 and 24215/13, in which two split rings A are expanded by wedges C with interposed springs D.
