Piston packing.-In piston packing of the type comprising two split rings a, a<1> of L-section expanded by a compound spring comprising alternate looped springs c' and flattened coiled springs c, a flat strip d is threaded through the coiled spring c which bridges the gaps in the rings. The strip d has a fixed collar e and a loose collar f , which are non-circular and engage between the walls of the rings and lugs b, b<1>. The collars form the abutments of the spring c and the adjacent springs c<1>.
