Paper and like bags, folding down mouths of after filling.- Relates to a machine for closing bags, particularly bags into which a fatty substance has been poured in the hot state and has congealed. The bags are advanced in boxes 7 on an endlees band 6 past cams 8 - - 11 mounted on the frame 1, which operate folding devices 15, 16, 26, 27 to close the top of the bag. The cam 11 first acts upon a roller 31 mounted on a slide 27 which is moved forward to make the first fold. The cam 10 acts similarly on a slide 26 to make the second fold. The cam 8 next contacts with a roller 21 on the folder 16 to depress it against the action of a spring 23 and the cam 9 causes the folder 15 to make the fourth fold. The cams may be resiliently mounted and adhesive may be applied to the packet before the last flap is folded down. On arrival at the position 7<a>, the packets fall from the boxes by gravity.
