Abstract

Couplings, automatic.-In automatic couplings of the kind described in Specification 191,899, the heel of the hook-bar is formed as an ordinary draw-hook in order to engage the link of a link- and-hook type of coupling. The hook-bar a, Fig. 1, is formed with a draw-hook b integral with the heel and is adapted to swing in a vertical plane about the pivot pin e, and is centralized by means of brackets g<1>, g<1> bearing against thefree ends of the pin. The hook a is raised into position for non-automatic coupling by means of the lever k, fixed to a transverse shaft l, bearing against a plate i. The hook b is fixed in the raised position through the lip i<2> of the plate i engaging the head k<1> of the lever k, Fig. 4. A link o may be used to lock the hook-bar a in the raised position.
