Abstract
226,653. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). Nov. 12, 1923. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-In a combined automatic coupler and chain device in which the automatic coupler comprises a notched knuckle through which a vertical pivot pin is passed near the free end thereof, the pin forming a means of attachment for the chain coupling, an attachment device is employed comprising a horizontal eye 7 entering the notch and pivotally engaging the pin 4 and a vertical eye 8 pivotally engaged by a link 10 of the chain coupling. The mouth of the slot in the knuckle is flared out at 6 to house the eye 8, and lugs 9 may be formed at the rear of the eye 7 to bear against the inside of the knuckle 3. The link 12 which passes over the hook 2 is shaped internally to approximately the cross-sectional contour of the hook 2.
