179,123. Mitchell, J., Cossey, J. C. G., and Adams, Sir H. Goold-. Nov. 25, 1920. Couplings, automatic. - In a disc-hook type of coupling for railway vehicles as described in Specification 176,086, a rounded projection is provided in a recess of the disc-hook, on which, during the process of coupling, the engaging shackle of the opposing coupler rests so as to complete the rotation of the hook into its locked position even if the point of the shackle is blunt. The disc-hook 1 has a rounded projection 11 in the recess 5, with which the shackle 3 of the opposing coupling engages after the end 9 of the shackle and the projection 7 of the hook have reached the limit of their engagement. As the shackle 4 rests on the shackle 3, part of their combined weight acts on the projection 11 and completes the rotation of the hook.
