Abstract
204,021. Schneider et Cie. Sept. 16, 1922, [Convention date]. Roller bearings for the big end of a connecting- rod made in one piece on a crank shaft also made in one piece in which two rows of rollers run directly on the crank-pin have two separate exterior races 4 constituted by continuous rings in combination with a spacing ring 5 acting upon the interior portion of the rows of rollers to maintain their distance apart. The rollers are assembled by passing them through a slot c in the connecting-rod 1 and they are guided by shoulders a, b on the races and on the crank shaft respectively. The spacing ring 5 is in halves, and is clamped on the crank-pin. The roller spacing cage, Fig. 5, which contacts with the rollers only for a part of their length, is divided axially, and the end flanges 9 are connected by long rivets 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), for the crank-shaft bearing in the crank-casing, in which the crank-shaft has two grooves 16 to allow for longitudinal displacements and the outer race is in two parts 11, 12 secured together by a screw 13. Each part 11, 12 is ring- shaped and has a shoulder c to guide the rollers 14, which are spaced by a cage analogous to that shown in Fig. 5. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
