Abstract

174,993. Douglas, W. W., and Ray, C. Oct. 9, 1920. Roller bearings for connecting-rod ends. A cage c receiving rollers d on each side, is formed in halves which are assembled in position in the bore of the rod-end b when the latter has been threaded on the shaft. Portions f are removed from the crank to facilitate insertion of the rollers. Axial movement of the rollers is prevented by means of retaining rings g, h, fixed to the cage by screws or rivets k and lying on the sides of the rod-end. The rings may be threaded on the shaft or may be made in halves, with interlocking ends, the joints of the rings and cage being arranged so that the halves of the cage are fixed together.
