Abstract
201,386. Crosbie, S. March 16, 1923. Regenerators.-A liquid or gaseous fuel furnace suitable for the use in connection with glass-melting tanks is provided, as shown in Fig. 2, with air-heating chambers 13 at the sides of the furnace through which pass the combustion products from the melting-tank 1. Each chamber is provided with dampercontrolled inlets 14 for combustion products and one or more outlets 15. Air to be heated is supplied by a fan through piping 16, 17 arranged in the chambers 13 and is led by extensions 18 to the burners 19, means being provided for controlling the air supply. The floor of the glass tank 1 is arranged above a series of air ducts which tend to keep it cool.
