Nov. 17, 1921, Sampling liquids.-Samples of tanning-liquor in which a skeleton drum carrying the hides is rotating are obtained by providing one or both end-discs of the drum with scoops, which at each revolution remove a portion of the liquor and discharge it again when near the top of their movement. The liquor is discharged in a trough t communicating with an inspection-box v which is provided near the inlet end with a diaphragm w extending from the top to near the bottom, and near the outlet end with a diaphragm x extending from the bottom to near the top, so that a constant amount of liquid is kept in the box for temperature and specific gravity tests.
